Happy Mother's Day!!

I had a GREAT time on Mother's day! First, I want to say :

“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY” To my wonderful mom! Anyway, we had my mom's favorite muffins, (they are honey bran) they are SUPER good, then we went to church, and then we went over to our grandma's for dessert and got to spend time with her and our aunt and uncle. AFTER that, there was a surprise for US, and MOM, but she already knew about...we got GIFT CARDS to Old Navy and we got to shop with our mom :) It was SO FUN!


We tried on MANY funny outfits and hats

 (mom, we rocked those jumpsuits :p) My brother, Matthew and sister, Brooke, and I also made mom a BIG card and we each made a PERLER BEAD thing, if you don't know what that is...

They are really FUN!

Again, WE had such a GREAT time :)

REMEMBER, to show your mom how much you love her and how special she is...NOT JUST ON MOTHER'S DAY...EVERY DAY!

Abram (part 2)

Okay, now I am going on to the next section in Abram's life:




 Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South.
Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.  And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord. (Genesis 13: 1-4)

 Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. (Genesis 13:6)

Lot and Abram could not share the land because they each had their own livestock and gatherings. So they had to decide who would get what land. Abram didn't want to start a fight, so he simply said that if Lot picks the left, then he will go to the right or vice versa.

While Lot looked over at the land of the Jordan...

...he decided he wanted that one. (so he went east) I am kind of surprised that they knew where north, south, east, and west was...I mean this is like  me trying to figure out a compass:

ANYWAY, Abram took Canaan.

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward;   for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.  And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.  Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.” (Genesis 13: 14-17)

WOW! Imagine how honored Abram must have felt. How would you feel? After all that walking, I would probably look like this: (okay, this is a little exaggerative :p)

But... I am guessing Abram didn't look like that.

 Then Abram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre,which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to the Lord. (Genesis 13:18)

The early life of Abram

Just to start this blog out about Abram, (soon to be Abraham) I want to tell you that there is A LOT to say about him and his life, and I know that for most people, a lot of reading is BORING....

So I am going to split this topic in different categories, The first category will be about Abraham's "Earlier Life."

So let's get started:

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12: 1-3) Sounds pretty good, right? So Abram did as he was told and Lot went with him. Guess how old Abram was when he departed from Haran?? He was...

WHOAH!

Abram took his wife, Sarai and Lot, who was his brother's son (I know, all of this family tree business can get confusing :p) and ALL of their possessions they had gathered. They were heading to Caanan.

 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.  And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.   So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South. ^{GENESIS 12: 7-9}

Now there was a famine in the Land of Egypt and it came to pass that he was soon entering Egypt. Abram told his wife that she is beautiful and that they will have him killed if they knew she was his wife, so he asked him to act like his sister. And as Abram said...Sarai was commended to the pharaoh and taken into his home:

 BUT don't worry, Abram was treated good :)

 But the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.  And Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?   Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? I might have taken her as my wife. Now therefore, here is your wife; take her and go your way.”   So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had Genesis 12: 17-20

I am kind of surprised that Pharaoh let Abram go that easy...aren't you?
