Tower of Babylon

And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11: 4
The Babylonians were making a tower that reached to heaven, or that's what they planned at least. Imagine how HIGH it was?!
They say the tower of Babylon was 91 meters in height...that is...298.556 feet!
(I want to thank GOOGLE for figuring out that answer for me)
Also imagine how much work they put into this...not knowing they couldn't reach to the heavens. It would take a REALLY long time!

In those days, there was only ONE LANGUAGE ...I'm not so sure what language it was...I am guessing Hebrew or Greek
Anyway: But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.(Genesis 11:5-7)
Then after that they stopped building the tower because no one could understand one another:

Now that explains why we have different languages today; those people in Babylon moved their separate ways and reproduced and taught their kids that language...It is so cool how that travels down from GENERATION TO GENERATION.

We all know why it is now called the tower of babel, right?
Because by changing their languages it caused them to BABEL :)(kind of funny actually)
I hope you enjoyed this one and my next one will be about Abram.

Noah's Ark

Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did. Genesis 6:22

WOW. Can you believe that? Noah OBEYED God, he built an ark just because God told him that it is going to rain-and may I say...this area was so dry...there was "NEVER" rain!- Imagine how many people made fun of him while he was building the ark!!

But, he continued with what he did...unlike most of us-we would give up on a task even if just ONE  laughed or made the slightest little comment. Noah is a GREAT leader to follow now that I think about it...don't you think?
To bad for the people laughing at him because little did they know that they were going to die in the flood. It is pretty sad how so many people died, but they must have been REALLY bad if God (a loving, caring God) had to kill them so that the generation could start again...
God told Noah to take two of every kind of animal on the ark, (so that they could reproduce) his family, and that's all!!

Imagine how crowded (and stinky) the ark would be! Imagine taking care of all those animals! Honestly, I would like it because I LOVE animals, BUT I don't think I would have enough strength to believe that the ark will survive the flood :/ How about you? Please put your answer in the "comments" section :)
I saw this funny little joke online and I want to share it with you (yes, it has to do with Noah)
haha... I thought that was cute :)
Anyway, back to the story...
After 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS OF RAIN...
(I don't know about you but I think this picture is kind of creepy-but it is probably what it looked like!!)
The water STOPPED. But it obviously had to recede...Noah sent out a raven to see if there was land somewhere. NO LAND. Then he sent out a dove. NO LAND. Then he waited for another seven days and sent out the dove again. LAND! The dove came back carrying in its mouth a freshly plucked olive leaf. Then he waited another seven days and then sent out the dove (I honestly didn't know that he sent it out again after knowing there was land) and this time the dove didn't come back. Which I am guessing he didn't come back because there was A LOT more land.
Then once the waters receded and there was land, and also once the earth was all dry...God told Noah to bring out his family and all the animals. He did just as He was told.
Then God made a promise that He will NEVER flood the whole earth again. Yes, we see floods on the news BUT just one city or country isn't the WHOLE world...so yes, God did keep His promise. The sign to prove that was...A RAINBOW :)
REMEMBER, be like Noah, who followed through every step of the way, even through embarrassment, he kept on going. Look where it got him...now imagine how far it might get YOU :)
